Renting games has never been easier, more cost effective or just make more sense. Buying games at 60 bucks a pop is not what I would call a good way to spend ones money. Sure there are games that warrant that price tag but there are tons that absolutely do not. Thankfully there are quite a few options available to the modern console gamer.

The first thing that game developers have done is make available downloadable demos. You can play a decent amount of the game for free to better gauge whether the game is for you or not. Wonderful as demos are they still make you go out and pay the full price for the full experience. If you play quite a few games a month then these 60 dollar expenditures add up extremely quickly.

You can also rent games at your local video rental locations. Again, you can sample the whole game for pennies on the dollar compared to purchasing the game you want to try. But at the end of the rental period you have to return the game to the location to avoid paying a late fee and those plain suck.

The best option in my opinion is to use an online game rentals service. You pay a monthly fee but in return you get to have a few games out at a time every day you are subscribed. You never have to worry about running out to the video store like Cinderella trying to beat the clock to avoid late fees. You can play your games at your leisure and finish them when you want to not when the video store says you have to finish them.

The coolest thing about services like Gamefly is that you can try them out for free. Check them out here for more information.
